The Grand Palace has an area of 218,400 sq. metres and is surrounded by walls built in 1782. The length of the four walls is 1,900 metres. Within these walls are situated government offices and the Chapel Royal of the Emerald Buddha besides the royal residences.

Wat Trimit, known for its famous Golden Buddha. The beautiful image of solid gold is three metres high and weighs five and a half tons. Wat Pho, the official name being Wat Phra Chetuphon Vimolmangklararm Rajwaramahaviharn , is a first grade royal monastery, regarded as the most important one during the reign of King Rama I of the Chakri Dynasty. The importance of this is due to the King having managed the restoration of Wat Phodharam, an old monastery from the Ayudhya period, and had it re-established as a royal monastery located near the Grand Palace. Some ashes of King Rama I were also kept under the pedestal of the principal Buddha image known as Phra Buddha Deva Patimakorn in the main chapel. The Reclining Buddha, this statue is 46 metres long, with the dimensions at the face of 15 metres high and at each foot of 3 metres high and 5 metres long.

In the past, daily commerce in Thailand was conducted mostly along rivers and canals (or khlongs in Thai). Bangkok's water network was busy and served as the principal means of communication causing Bangkok to be called as the “Venice of the East” by early European visitors.
Today Bangkok's floating markets may not be quite so vibrant. The best known floating market is at Damnoen Saduak, some 109 kilometres southwest of Bangkok or approximately two hours drive. It is a ‘must-see' destination and probably visited by nine out of every ten tourists who visit Thailand. Every morning, hundreds of boats crowd the market area. Most of them are paddled by women with picturesque straw hats. Visitors can find everything from vegetables and fruits to freshly-cooked noodle and souvenirs at this lively market.

The Rose Garden Cultural centre comprises a large area of the resort which has been developed into a typical Thai Village. Here, you will see villagers, in their natural habitat, working to create traditional village handicrafts. Silk-weaving, pottery-making, umbrella-painting, Khon mask masking, mat weaving, doll making, fruit craving, garland-making, rice-pounding, even the intricate crafting of silver and laquerware. You will also see impressive dispalys of Thai period costumes and the busy everyday activities of a typical Thai market as well as different styles of Thai Houses from North to South and an intriguing display of antiques from various parts of Thailand. These and many more fascinating aspects of Thai Village life are depicted and a wide range of gifts and souvenirs are available to remind you of your visit.

The Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya or Ayutthaya in short, is one of Thailand 's historical and majestic highlights. Serving as the Thai capital for 417 years (1350 1767: Kingdom of Ayutthaya ), it was once glorified as one of the biggest cities in  Southeast Asia . During the 17th century, most foreign visitors to Ayutthaya , traders or diplomats alike, claimed Ayutthaya to be the most illustrious and glittering city that they had ever visited. The map of Ayutthaya published in 1691 by Simon de la Loubere in Du Royaume De Siam is proof of such recognition. The Kingdom of Ayutthaya was built and developed in leaps and bounds. The ruins in Ayutthaya that survived the test of time embody both the glorious and ignominious stories of the Kingdom.

Wat Phra Si Sanphet, located inside the compound of the Grand Palace -the foundations of which are still visible-and served as the royal chapel, as Wat Phra Kaeo does in Bangkok . This Wang Lung Palace ( Royal Palace ) was built by King U-Thong upon the founding of the city. Used as a residential palace, it became a monastery in the reign of King Ramathibodi I. When King Borom Trai Lokanat commanded the construction of new living quarters, this residential palace was transformed into a temple, and the establishment of Wat Phra Si Sanphet. Wihan Phra Mongkhon Bophit, a large bronze seated Buddha image (Phra Mongkhon Bophit) was originally enshrined outside the Grand Palace to the east. It could be dated to the 15th century and was originally intended to stand in the open air. Later, King Songtham commanded it to be transferred to the west, where it is currently enshrined and covered with a Mondop. In the reign of Phra Chao Sua, the top of the Mondop was burnt down by a fire due to a thunderbolt. The King then commanded that a new building be built in the form of a big sanctuary (Maha Wihan) to cover the image in lieu of the former Mondop. During the second fall of Ayutthaya , the building and the image were badly destroyed by fire. The present Viharn and Buddha image have been reconstructed and renovated. The open area located east of the Viharn was formerly Sanam Luang, where royal cremation ceremonies took place.
